Penn State distinguishes brief chilling for Bartlett from longer chilling for winter pears such as Bosc. After conditioning, it gives approximate ripening times of five days for Bartlett and seven for Bosc at 65–75°F and high humidity; slight yielding below the stem is the eating cue.
