Growing conditions and preparation matter more to flavor than whether the fruit grew in the dry season.

In Carvalho’s 2017 thesis,129 regular passionfruit-nectar consumers rated BRS Pérola do Cerrado nectars made with 33% pulp and 4.5% added sucrose. Mean liking ranged 6.2–6.8 on a nine-point scale. Neither season nor growing system alone had a significant main effect; their interaction did. Dry-season espalier nectar scored above rainy-season espalier nectar, while the two trellis samples did not differ significantly.

A 2021 study compared ripe BRS Pérola do Cerrado fruit under four packaging treatments at 10°C/90% relative humidity and 25°C/70% relative humidity for 14 days. The authors favored 10-micrometre PVC film at 10°C overall. HDPE reduced weight loss still further, but the discussion raises a low-oxygen fermentation concern.
